Stockholm-based composer Shida Shahabi returns with her sophomore album, a rich + hugely impressive work that resonates with a powerful depth + sees her continuing to push into deeper, more expansive sonic realms. Mixed and mastered by Francesco Donadello, it reveals an increased focus on ambient texture, drone and extended duration, with her piano set against Linnea Olsson’s cello, Gus Loxbo’s double bass, and a 4-piece choir.

Her debut LP, ‘Homes’ (2018) was championed by BBC’s Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson and Elizabeth Alker, with Future Music calling it “a masterclass in simplicity... the confident debut of a new artist with their own vision”. Released without big fanfare or marketing, it found a strong, organic connection with an audience, picked up and shared across social media and via word of mouth..

Since then, Shida has released 3 EPs and contributed to Deezer’s ‘Beethoven Recomposed’ project. Following a string of rare but brilliant live performances and with her music having racked up millions of digital streams, ‘Living Circle’ finally arrives to answer the building anticipation.
